Crompton & Royton Golf Club officially welcomed the start of the new golfing season with the annual Captain’s Drive-In, held on a crisp and well-attended morning at the club.
Members gathered to watch as newly appointed Captain Nigel Wylie took to the first tee for his ceremonial opening drive, marking the beginning of his year in office. With a great turnout of members offering their support, the atmosphere around the clubhouse and first tee reflected the strong sense of community the club is known for.
Nigel was joined by fellow captains, Susan Byrne (Lady Captain) and Toby Nuttall (Junior Captain), each of whom will play key roles in the year ahead, both on and off the course.
The Drive-In is a long-standing tradition at Crompton & Royton Golf Club, symbolising not only the start of a new season, but also a fresh chapter for the club under its new leadership. It provides an opportunity for members to come together, show their support, and look ahead to another year of competitive golf, social events, and continued development at the club.
We wish Nigel and all of our 2026 officers every success for the year ahead.
