Crompton and Royton Golf Club was delighted to welcome competitors from clubs across the region for the Royton Sword and Anniversary Salver on Sunday 12th July 2026.
The day produced some excellent golf and closely contested results, with countback required to separate a number of the leading players.
Congratulations to Charles Ward of Northenden Golf Club, who secured first place and the £250 prize after rounds of 73 and 72 for a total of 145, winning on countback.
Graeme Booth of Formby Hall finished runner-up with rounds of 68 and 77, also totalling 145, and received £150.
Joel Berry of Chorley Golf Club took third place with rounds of 72 and 74 for a total of 146, winning £75.
Andrew Hunter of Brampton Golf Club claimed the Anniversary Salver with rounds of 71 and 69 for a winning total of 140, earning the £150 first prize.
David Sage of Huddersfield Golf Club finished second with rounds of 72 and 71 for a total of 143, winning on countback and receiving £75.
Alfie Hunt of Copt Heath Golf Club took third place with rounds of 72 and 74 for a total of 146, also decided on countback, and received £35.
The best gross score in Round One was recorded by Joe Whittaker of Bolton Golf Club, who carded a 72 and won £30.
In Round Two, Crompton and Royton’s own Alfie Yearsley recorded the best gross score with a round of 73, also winning £30.
The Round One nearest-the-pin prizes were won by Harry Sherriff of Manchester Golf Club on the 4th hole, finishing 181cm from the pin, and James Allen of Manchester Golf Club on the 6th hole at 185cm.
James Allen continued his success during Round Two, winning both nearest-the-pin prizes. He finished 528cm from the pin on the 4th hole and 928cm away on the 6th.
Each nearest-the-pin winner received two sleeves of TaylorMade TP5 golf balls.
